### What is Digital PR?

Digital PR is the practice of earning media coverage and authoritative backlinks that build brand authority, drive qualified referral traffic and improve organic performance. Campaigns typically combine original research, thought leadership, expert commentary and reactive newsjacking.

It differs from what traditional PR teams do in what it’s measured on. Traditional media relations is generally judged on reach and sentiment; Digital PR is judged on links, search rankings and the commercial performance that follows. In practice the two overlap heavily: the skills are the same, the scorecard isn’t.

### How does Digital PR support SEO?

Backlinks remain one of the strongest off-page ranking signals, and coverage in high-authority publications is the most durable way to earn them. Every top-tier link improves site authority, supports organic rankings and can drive qualified traffic in its own right.

The effect compounds. Authority built for one campaign supports the pages you target next, which is why sustained Digital PR outperforms one-off pushes for organic growth.

### Does Digital PR affect visibility in AI search?

Yes, and increasingly so. Large language models draw heavily on established publications when answering questions about brands, products and markets, so coverage in those titles influences your AI visibility as directly as it influences search visibility.

Unlinked brand mentions carry weight here in a way they don’t for traditional rankings. That’s a genuine benefit of Digital PR rather than a substitute for links, and we report on both.

### How long does Digital PR take to show results?

Coverage can appear within weeks of a campaign launching. Measurable impact on rankings and organic traffic usually takes three to six months, as authority accrues and search engines reassess the pages that benefited.

Long-term campaigns build search equity that short bursts don’t. A single campaign can produce a spike; a sustained programme changes what your site is capable of ranking for.

### Do Digital PR campaigns always deliver links?

That’s what we build campaigns to achieve, because quality placements are the point. Not every piece of coverage carries a link. Some publications have blanket policies, and reactive commentary is more likely to earn a mention than a linked citation.

What we won’t do is present a set of unlinked mentions as the intended outcome. If a campaign underperformed on links, we’ll tell you why and what we’re changing.

### Is Digital PR suitable for small businesses?

Not usually. Digital PR done properly requires an investment level that’s normally only within reach of medium-sized and larger businesses, because large-scale data-led campaigns are expensive to research, produce and pitch.

Smaller businesses can run lower-level tactics themselves: reactive commentary through journalist request platforms, local and trade outreach, founder-led thought leadership. We’d rather point you there than take on a campaign the budget can’t support.

### How much does Digital PR cost?

Cost depends on campaign type and frequency. Reactive commentary and media monitoring sit at the lower end; original research with commissioned survey data and interactive assets sits considerably higher, because the production cost is real before any outreach begins.

Be wary of anyone quoting a fixed price per link. It usually indicates a volume model, and volume is what gets brands into trouble with link quality.

### What makes a good Digital PR agency?

A Digital PR team with genuine media contacts, ideas that stand up as stories rather than as marketing, and a clear line from campaign to commercial outcome. Ask to see press coverage in titles your target audience actually reads.

Ask what happens when a campaign doesn’t land, too. Every agency has them. How honestly they report on those tells you more than the case studies do.
