Search is moving into the answer box

People increasingly get their answers straight from ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google’s AI Overviews — without ever clicking a blue link. If those systems can’t read your site, don’t trust it, or can’t pull a clean quote from it, you simply won’t be in the answer.

Most site owners have no idea where they stand. This extension gives you a 30-second snapshot of your AI visibility, on any page, for free.

What it checks

Click the icon on any page and you get four checks plus a content-rendering safety net, scored instantly and entirely in your browser.

1. AI crawler access

It reads the site’s robots.txt and shows you a clear green/red grid of which AI crawlers are allowed in — GPTBot and OAI-SearchBot (OpenAI), ClaudeBot (Anthropic), PerplexityBot, Google-Extended (Gemini), Applebot-Extended, CCBot and Bytespider. Blocking the crawlers you actually want to be cited by is the single most common GEO own-goal, and it’s usually an accident. This catches it.

2. Structured data and entity signals

It scans the page’s structured data for the markup language models lean on — Organization, Article, FAQPage, Author and sameAs — and flags what’s missing. The real question isn’t “do you have schema.” It’s “can a model work out who you are and decide to trust you.” This answers it.

3. Quotability

It scores how easy your page is to lift a clean answer from, out of 100: a single clear H1, logical sectioning, lists, tables, direct-answer paragraphs, readable sentence length and enough depth to be useful. If an LLM can’t find a tidy, self-contained chunk, it won’t quote you.

4. llms.txt

It checks for llms.txt and llms-full.txt — the emerging standard that tells language models what matters on your site. Still optional today, but an easy way to get ahead.

Plus: a JavaScript-rendering safety net

Here’s the trap most tools miss. If your content only appears after JavaScript runs, AI crawlers that read raw HTML may see a near-empty page — even though it looks perfectly full to you. The checker compares the raw HTML against the rendered page and warns you the moment there’s a gap, so you never get a false clean bill of health.

Why it’s different

We built this the way we wished other tools worked.

  • No sign-up, ever. Install it and use it. No account, no email wall, no API key to paste in.
  • No scan limits. Check as many pages as you like, as often as you like. Free forever.
  • It reads nothing it doesn’t need. It only acts on the tab you’re looking at, the moment you click the icon — there’s no “read and change all your data on all websites” permission, because it doesn’t have it.
  • Nothing leaves your browser. Every check runs locally. No analytics, no tracking, no data sent to us or anyone else, nothing stored, nothing sold.
  • Honest results. The rendering safety net means we won’t tell you you’re fine when a crawler would see an empty page.

The free check, and the full picture

The extension is the free 30-second snapshot. When you’re ready to fix what it surfaces — across your whole site, with citation tracking and a clear plan of action — that’s where our GEO and LLM visibility service comes in.

Common questions

Is it really free? Yes. No account, no trial, no scan limits, no card. We built it as a free tool for the SEO and GEO community.

What data do you collect? None. The extension has no analytics, no tracking and no servers. Every check runs locally in your browser. The full detail is on the privacy page.

Why doesn’t it ask for scary permissions? By design. It uses Chrome’s “active tab” model, which gives it access to a page only at the moment you click the icon — and only that page. It never sees your browsing history or any other tab.

Does it work on JavaScript-heavy sites? Yes — and it’s one of the few that tells you the truth about them. If your content depends on JavaScript to appear, the rendering check warns you that crawlers may not see it.

Which AI crawlers does it check? GPTBot, OAI-SearchBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, Google-Extended, Applebot-Extended, CCBot and Bytespider — the bots that drive citations across the major answer engines today.

Is this a replacement for a full audit? No. It’s a fast on-page snapshot. A full audit looks across your whole site, tracks where you’re actually being cited over time, and gives you a prioritised plan. Talk to us when you’re ready for that.
