This policy explains how the GEO & AI Visibility Checker Chrome extension (“the extension”), published by Marketing Signals Ltd (“we”, “us”), handles information. In short: the extension does not collect, store, transmit or sell any of your data. Every check runs locally in your browser.
The short version
- We do not collect any personal data through the extension.
- We do not use analytics, tracking pixels, cookies or third-party SDKs inside the extension.
- We do not have a server that the extension talks to. There is no account and no login.
- All analysis happens locally on your device.
- The only network requests the extension makes go to the website you are already viewing — to read its robots.txt, its llms.txt files and the page itself. These requests go to that website, not to us.
What the extension does
When you click the extension’s icon on a web page, it performs an on-page GEO and AI visibility check. To do that it:
- reads the current page’s HTML and rendered content to analyse headings, structured data, lists, tables and text;
- requests the current website’s robots.txt file to check which AI crawlers are allowed;
- requests the current website’s llms.txt and llms-full.txt files, if they exist;
- compares the raw HTML against the rendered page to detect JavaScript-dependent content.
All of this processing happens in your browser. The results are shown to you in the popup and are not recorded anywhere after you close it.
What we collect
Nothing. The extension contains no analytics, no telemetry, no error reporting and no tracking of any kind. We have no way of knowing that you have installed it, which pages you check, or what the results were.
Permissions, and why they are minimal
The extension requests only two permissions, both kept to the minimum needed to work:
- Active tab — this gives the extension temporary access to the single tab you are viewing, and only at the moment you click the icon. It does not grant access to your other tabs, and it is not the broad “read and change all your data on all websites” access that many extensions request. The extension cannot see your browsing history.
- Scripting — this allows the extension to read the structure of the current page (its headings, structured data and content) so it can score it. It is used only on the page you are actively checking, only when you click the icon.
Network requests
To run its checks, the extension fetches three things from the website you are currently viewing: that site’s robots.txt, its llms.txt files, and the page’s own HTML. These requests are made directly to the website you are on. No data about these requests, or their results, is sent to Marketing Signals or to any third party.
The clipboard
If you use the “Copy summary” button, the extension writes a plain-text summary of your results to your device’s clipboard so you can paste it elsewhere. This happens entirely on your device. Nothing is transmitted.
Links out of the extension
The extension contains links to our website, marketingsignals.com — for example the “Get a full audit” button and the footer links. These links open only if you choose to click them. When you click “Get a full audit”, the link includes the domain name of the site you were checking as a parameter in the URL, so we can provide relevant context if you get in touch. This is the one piece of information that can pass to our website, and only when you actively click that button.
Our website, marketingsignals.com, is governed by its own privacy policy and may use cookies and standard web analytics. The extension itself does not.
Data sharing and selling
We do not share, sell, rent or trade any data, because the extension does not collect any.
Children
The extension is a professional tool intended for website owners and marketers. It is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone.
Changes to this policy
If we update the extension’s functionality in a way that affects this policy, we will update this page and change the “last updated” date above. Material changes will be reflected in the Chrome Web Store listing.
