Head of Business Development

Head of Business Development
The Head of Business Development is responsible for driving revenue growth, acquiring new clients, and expanding strategic partnerships in search marketing (SEO, PPC and SEM). This fully remote based leadership role will start as an individual contributor with a clear mandate to secure £1,000,000 in annual revenue, whilst scaling a high-performing business development team. The successful candidate will be a commercially driven, hands-on sales leader with a proven track record of closing enterprise-level deals and exceeding revenue targets. With a £52,000 basic salary and an OTE of £100,000-£120,000, this role rewards performance and provides the opportunity to build a sales function around early successes.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Sales & Revenue Growth

  • Develop and execute a sales strategy to secure £1,000,000 in revenue per annum.
  • Prospect, pitch, and close deals with ambitious enterprise brands, other SEO agencies and partners based in the UK and USA.
  • Own the full sales cycle, from lead generation to pitching, negotiation and contract signing.

2. Team Expansion & Leadership

  • Operate as an individual contributor initially, securing key wins.
  • Once initial revenue milestones are met, hire, train, and lead a team of business development professionals.
  • Define sales structures, commission models, and growth strategies.

3. Strategic Growth & Market Positioning

  • Identify and capitalise on emerging trends in search marketing and performance advertising.
  • Develop go-to-market strategies and refine value propositions to differentiate offerings.
  • Build relationships with CMOs, Heads of Digital, and agency decision-makers.

4. Sales Operations & Performance Optimisation

  • Establish and optimise sales processes, improving conversion rates and efficiency.
  • Track KPIs, revenue forecasts, and pipeline health using CRM tools that you implement.
  • Provide regular performance reports to senior leadership, adjusting strategies as needed.

Key Qualifications:

  • 7+ years in business development, sales, or strategic partnerships in search marketing (SEO, PPC, SEM, Performance Marketing).
  • Demonstrated ability to secure £1M+ in annual revenue through new business development.
  • Proven experience in closing enterprise-level deals and managing high-value sales cycles.
  • Strong knowledge of search marketing platforms (Google Ads, Microsoft Ads, etc.).
  • Ability to build and lead a high-performing sales team once key milestones are achieved.
  • Excellent negotiation, relationship-building, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience using CRM and sales analytics tools to track and optimise performance.

Compensation & Growth Path

  • Base Salary: £52,000
  • OTE (On-Target Earnings): £100,000-£120,000 (uncapped commission structure).
  • Revenue Target: £1,000,000 per annum.
